This airport was built in the 1920s serving on the airmail beacon route for several years, until the Navy started to use the airport in the 40s while they built ‘The Air Station’. The airport was returned to the city of Gardener after the Navy moved their operations to the Air Station (now IXD). The airport was the home of a Flight School ran by Charley Crag until the late 90s. There is now a Glider School operating at the airport, along with several small businesses.
The airport is a General Aviation airport, which has 3 runways 08-26 (paved), 17-35 (grass), and 03-21 (grass). AV Gas is usually available sunrise to sunset
It in called ‘The best little Airport in Kansas’. This airport is where I bought a 150D (N6012T) and started to learn to fly. Yes, I bought the airplane, and then started lessons. It took 9 CFIs before I got my ticket, because of my job at the time, which transferred me to New York, and my first CFI’s company transferring him out of town.
I have a friend, CFI, and AP that will be taking care of the cache; He also got permission from the airport committee and city for us to place the cache at this location.
