Located in an unusual and unique pine woodland, which is part of a restored old quarry. Part of a beautiful 3 mile walk with fabulous views, over Morecambe bay and the Lakeland Fells.
This cache can be approached from numerous points including Bolton-le-sands,Carnforth,and Nether Kellet. A maze of public footpaths run through the area.
Bolton-le-sands is an old village, famous for the canal, and being a major access point for crossing the sands to Grange,it is unfortunately known for the tragedy of the Chinese Cockle Pickers, who drowned on a freezing night in February 2004.
Quickest access to the cache is from the M6 motorway bridge near Nether Kellet, from the western end of the bridge take the footpath which heads North parallel to the M6 for a few hundred metres, then take the signed footpath on your left and follow this path to your destination.
The cache is hidden in a beautiful restored quarry which has been filled and planted with pine trees, the path is unique in its appearance and out of character with its surroundings.
A much better walk is to start in Bolton-le-sands and head up through Thwaite Brow woods, pick up the trail described above and then continue past the cache back down to the canal tow path and back to B-L-S. Enjoy the fabulous views over the bay and out to the Lakeland Fells. Also you can see Warton Crag and Farleton Knott. Happy Hunting
