Geocache Description:

It's good to be cool, especially in the heat of summer.

The origin of ice cream might best be described as "vague". Some historians point to the first century A.D., while others contend it was around for a few hundred years even before that. Several well-known historical figures were said to have enjoyed the frozen treat. There are tales of Alexander the Great mixing snow with honey and nectar. Marco Polo brought sherbet back from the Far East, and Catherine de Medici was said to have enjoyed something "icy and creamy" in 16th century France. Whenever, wherever it came about, there's nothing quite like ice cream to cool things off. In that spirit, we're pleased to host another geo-event.

Here's the scoop:

DATE: Saturday, July 25, 2009
TIME: 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
LOCATION: Altisima Park; Rancho Santa Margarita, CA

What can you bring? Nothing, really. We'll provide the yummy frozen stuff, bowls, spoons, and all those essential extras like M&M's and Gummi bears. After the big feast, we'll try a few lawn games like geo-croquet. We hope you'll join us and enjoy A Midsummer's Ice Cream!
