Boxer's Lake Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

CANDS37: We came by to check on this cache. It looks like it is gone.

This cache has had a good run of over six years, so it is probably time to archive it and release the area for others.

Thank you to all of the cachers who have looked for this cache.

Boxer's Lake, RIP.

Geocache Description:

An easy cache in a small wooded area near Boxer's lake.

Boxer's Lake Open Space is a relic of the 18th century landscape park of South Bailey Lodge; it was originally one of three lakes. As recorded in 1650, the royal hunting forest of Enfield Chase had three Lodges - East, West and South Baileys. When Enfield Chase was divided up in 1777, land was allocated to each of the three Lodges. The South Bailey Lodge was for some years the occasional residence of the Right Hon. William Pitt (afterwards Earl of Chatham).

Fishing in the lake is permitted for those with a valid license.

The cache is near a footpath that we have frequently used on our walks from Enfield Town to Trent Park. It is set-back a bit from the lake in some nearby woodland. The lake attracts many muggles and there are often children playing nearby.

The cache is a 400ml lock-lock plastic container. Contains a badge for the FTF. Co-ords taken with a yellow EtrexH (the bumblebee), but were a little bit jumpy.

Congratulations to Stevious1 on the FTF and their first cache.
