Geocache Description:

Amo can hidden in the woods.

This spot has been calling to me for a while begging for a cache… so here it is. It’s my typical cache --- an ammo can hidden in the woods!

It wasn’t that long ago that the “by-pass” for Hwy 17 didn’t exist. When it (the by-pass) was built this parking area was left and is sometimes used by commuters. The parking area offered a nice parking spot for this cache – but it is definitely NOT a “park and grab”!

This should not be that hard of a find but I have given the terrain a “3” rating. (My 10 year-old made it with no problems). Please be aware while you are searching: poison ivy, briars, blackberry vines, devil’s walking sticks, and creepy-crawlies are in abundance in this location. There is also one ditch that you will have to cross which has some loose rip-rap...watch your step! From the parking coordinates you will start out on a paved path (what remains of an old asphalt surfaced road) but the path will soon end. You may see small vestiges of a trail (animal trails) after you cross the ditch and before you enter the heavy tree line. The heavy canopy will cause some GPS bounce. I’ve checked the coordinates 3 times and with 2 different GPSs in the attempt to get the best possible coordinates for the cache.

Please use the parking coordinates to begin your search for this cache. Provided that you have used the parking coordinates, you will not have to enter any travel way (road) while in search of the cache. Remember, it is illegal and unsafe to park along the bypass.
