Fifty acres of land was purchased in 1961 by the Maitland Valley Conservation and named the Sunshine Conservation Area. Approximately 5.7 acres were planted with red pine about 1965-1966 and 1.5 acres of white pine were planted in 1980. Two ponds were improved in 1977, and were stocked with brook trout on a “put and take” basis in 1980 by the Minister of Natural Resources.

If you continue on down the trail you will see the two ponds and find another cache hidden.
