Geocache Description:

Park in the South Plum Creek Park parking lot
Gollum is back ....very close to his muggled original location. With the tree cover, it was impossible to get good coords so I added some specific directions to find it in the clues. Watch out for the groundhog holes and rehide cache well.

NOTE:
THIS CACHE WILL BE ARCHIVED AND REMOVED MARCH 31, 2012.

Plum Creek Park has been my favorite place to hike and take photos since the early 80”s…about the same time that I first read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. I was hooked on both and still am. The three caches I’m placing on the south side of Plum Creek Park are a tribute to JRR Tolkien, master storyteller extraordinaire. His world of Middle Earth was occupied by Hobbits, Elves, Dwarves, Wizards and men… as well as others, some too evil to mention.

Smeagol was a Hobbit who committed murder to obtain the evil One Ring which consumed his mind and body and he became the creature known as Gollum. Under the influence of the Ring, Gollums life was prolonged well beyond its natural limits, and he retreated to a deep cavern in the Misty Mountains where he survived by catching and eating raw fish.
“The rock and pool is nice and cool, so juicy sweet. Our only wish.. to catch a fish, so juicy sweet,” he'd sing as he whacked them senseless on a rock.
When he lost the Ring he set out to recover it and, in the end, he proved to be instrumental in the Ring's destruction in the fires of Mount Doom and thus saved of Middle Earth.

Look for a small camouflaged container with room for small trade items.
Original trade items are fish.

Plum Creek Park is a beautiful park in northeastern Medina County. It has picnic areas, pavilions, a playground, 2 stocked fishing ponds and both paved and unpaved hiking trails. Thanks to the Medina County Park District for permitting this cache. Please remember to cache in and trash out.
