Geocache Description:

The fourth in our series of downtown Rochester caches to bring your attention to an interesting area you probably never knew existed.

This is my personal favorite in the series so far. You are looking for a matchstick container with log only.

When historic St. Joseph's Church was gutted by fire in 1974, the Western New York Landmark Society stepped in to save the remaining bell tower structure. Their unique decision to turn the roofless sanctuary with its soaring clock tower into a park provided a visual center for this neighborhood. The St. Joseph's Park area has great potential for development.

The church was built from 1843-1846 with the tower being built in 1910. The congregation was founded by German immigrants.

As with any cache, please be respectful of the area and please use stealth when searching for the caches as there could be a lot of muggles around. Do not tear the area up when searching. If standing at the right angle you can see part of it. Please hide as well or better than you found it.

BYOP for this cache.
