The Welcome to Lunenburg County Geocache Series was placed by
eastriver and HondaGirl2006 as a 10Th Anniversary of Geocaching in
Canada Project. The caches are placed within sight of the county
line signs on major and secondary roads leading in to Lunenburg
County, Nova Scotia. In two locations (both on Highway #103) there
is also a very large sign stating that Lunenburg County is the
Balsam Fir Christmas Tree Capital of the World, and that Lunenburg
County was also the Forest Capital of Canada for 1996. More notable
to all Geocachers is that Canada’s first geocache (GCBBA) was
placed in Lunenburg County on 28 June of 2000 and is located at
Exit #7 of Highway 103, about halfway between Hubbards and Chester.
During the 10th year of Geocaching in Canada, beginning on 29 June
2009 and ending on 29 June 2010, geocachers who log all 10 Welcome
to Lunenburg County caches will receive at the Maritime Mega Event,
GC1P585, a Certificate and have their name placed in a draw. The
First place winner will receive a 10Th Anniversary LE geocoin
designed and donated by eastriver. Second and Third place winners
will receive a Lunenburg County Cachers geocoin donated by
HondaGirl2006. There is safe parking very near all of this cache
Series.
