Dutch Masters Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

t@bbywmn: I tried to do maintenance on this cache, however, the whole area is fenced off because of pipeline construction. This cache had a good run since 2009 so I have decided to archive it. Thank you to all cachers who found it.

Geocache Description:

This cache is not located at the posted coordinates but is within two miles.

This cache is a tribute to the “Vermeer, Rembrandt and the Golden Age of Dutch Art Masterpieces from The Rijksmuseum” exhibition that is featured at the Vancouver Art Gallery from May 10 until September 13, 2009. This is the biggest and most significant collection of 17th century Dutch art ever assembled in Canada.

In an exclusive presentation, this exhibition will highlight the extraordinary works of art made during the seventeenth century in the Netherlands, a period known as the Golden Age. During this time the emerging Dutch Republic reached unprecedented economic, political and cultural heights and saw a brilliant flowering of artistic talent. This historic exhibition assembles some of the finest paintings by the masters of the Golden Age, as well as an outstanding selection of drawings and decorative arts that testify to the artistic sophistication achieved during this period, providing a fascinating glimpse into the daily life of this vibrant, urbane and remarkably wealthy new society. These stunning works of art—drawn from the renowned collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam—once graced the elegant interiors of the canal houses and country homes built by the aristocracy and the new merchant classes.

The cache is located at N 49 AB.CDE W 122 F.GHI
