Geocache Description:

Located near the crossing of the Mattawishkwia River in Hearst, Ontario.

I saw the idea for this cache in Hornepayne, so I thought it would be neat to do a couple like this around here. Very close to the river that passes through town. Adjacent to the sidewalk of the river crossing, wheel chair access. Parking on North side of river, either side of the road.

A few years ago the river was so dry you could have crossed it in running shoes jumping from rock to rock. In a normal spring time the water is high enough to go halfway up the nearby lawns. Spring breakup is neat to watch, as the blocks of broken ice chunks rumble down the river crashing into each other.
