Geocache Description:

Welding Rod Container

1st Cache in Parrsboro
Welding Rod Container

DO NOT CLIMB OVER FENCE......Start near Outhouse
then follow GPS to Cache

WARNING when looking for the Cache or taken photo’s keep a close eye on the Clift banks. DO NOT go to close the edge of the cliffs, as the ground under erodes all along the cliff faces. Many places are 200ft or more Straight Down to the Shore line Below.

Other than the Warning if you have not been to the Parrsboro area before it is unbelievable. For its Historic Site, The Power of the Amazing Tides of the Bay of Fundy, the Beauty & Panoramic View of the of the Upper Minas Basin and it’s Coast line, Fossil Cliffs Home of the Worlds Smallest Dinosaur Foot Prints, Geological Wonder you can find samples of nearly every mineral in the world, Need I say More…..

Take main street in Parrsboro, keep heading south towards Ottawa House which is a story in it’s Self. The trail is about 4km from Down Town.

As you leave Down Town You will Notice the Ships Company Theater Opening on July 1st on your Left. When this cache has been placed it is the 25th Anniversary Season and will feature two World Premiere productions well worth a look. This is a Professional World Class Live Theater. See link below for Show times, Tickets and more information.

A little farther down the road you will Tysons’ Fine Minerals on your right. Has one of the Greatest Collection of Canadian Minerals along with many other world wide fine Minerals. I was Amazed at the Collection. It is a must to visit. Check out the link Below for Contact information.

Not just more than a half of a Kilometer down the Road from Tysons on your left you will find Parrsboro Rock & Mineral Shop & Museum there is not enough room to Type up this one…..I’ll give you the Short and Sweet. Owned & Operated by Eldon George, 62 years of Amateur Fossil and Mineral Collecting. Founder of the 200 million year old Worlds Smallest Dinosaur Foot Print…ON Display! I stopped here today when I was Placing the Cache. I was told today by George that there is very soon to be announced Another WORLDS FIRST……Stop in and see George he may just show you, He did show me. I said this Before But it truly is unbelievable what he has here on display. There is nothing more that I can say other than if you have the least little bit of Interest in Fossils or just the plain Beauty of Minerals. THIS is a Must…I would of placed a cache here but the home is for sale and the Shop may be moving.

OK….as you come down the hill by Ottawa house you will see a Beautiful Beach with a Sand Bar Heading out to Partridge Island. Take the Driveway to Ottawa house keep to the right, drive along the sand bar with to the Picnic area. You will see a small cottage at the end of the sandbar, to the right is where the Trail up Partridge island Begins. The first 100ft is the most physical demanding, After the half way point it is down hill, Until you have to Return…:) Trail is Easily Followed and has several rest spots along the way. No doubt you will be taken photos along the way, Do not get to Close the Cliffs. Follow trail From Sandbar 1.5km to the Lookout Tower. Here at 200ft you will have 60km of Coast line to be amazed at. Cache is Located off to the right. WATCH THE CLIFFS…you do not have to cross over old Fence. At the Look out there is a Picnic Table, Out House and a place to make a Camp Fire, which you will not leave unattended. Just before the Wooded Bridge near the Tower Look out there is a trail which leads down towards the shoreline. I really Really don’t recommend going alone. Very Steep to get down. If you plan on going onto the Beach KNOW THE TIDE TIMES. Very Important, especially in this area as the Tides come in VERY Fast and Rise Up the Cliffs. Closest Air Rescue is out of Halifax and Hanging on the side of a cliff of an Hour or Two IF you get a call for Help out is not Fun. Even worse six hours if you do not get a call for help out. It has happened many times all along the Bay of Fundy Coast. If you really want to visit the shore line it would be best to walk around the right side of the island on the shore as the tide is going out. This will maximize you time you can spend on the beach. Make sure to be heading back 2 hours BEFORE the tide is due to Rise.

There are 2 Other Caches Placed on the Island "Top of Island " (GC1VD58) & "Rest Spot" (GC1VD68)
