This is my first hide, so I made it simple.
This is along the Jefferson North portion of the Katy Trail State Park, a rails-to-trails project. Because of that, it's a real easy walk. This cache requires about a mile walk (half-mile each way) on level, hard-pack. I was surprised that no one had placed on the Jeff City section of the trail, so I thought I would remedy that. For more info, visit http://www.mostateparks.com/katytrail/index.html.
This is a magnetic keyholder There's a log in it and room for small, flat items. Please bring your own pen.
This cache is also around a metal structure, so expect some multipath errors, typically around 15 feet, but my unit got as high as 30.
NOTE: It is not necessary to leave the trail to reach this cache. Please stay on the trail. Do not climb under the structure. You will not be able to reach the cache from the ground.
The Katy Trail treks 225 miles across Missouri and provides ample opportunity for biking, hiking, and in some portions (NOT this portion, however), horseback riding. It follows along some bluffs, and at portions the Missouri River. Very scenic. I myself hope to do a hike/float trip at some point. I hope you enjoy the short hike to this site!
Permit approved by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Please use the parking listed below. There's some great information about the trail and some maps located here. Enjoy your visit!
*** Congratulations to Mongo Travelers for FTF!***
