Narrow Gauge Trail, off Route 27 north, Carrabassett Valley, Campbell Field entrance.
Cross the footbridge, then take an immediate right turn onto the narrow dirt bike path that leads along the river. Do not go to the main trail. The cache is placed about a 5-10 minute walk along the river-side trail, in a very pretty spot. It was a bit difficult to get a good GPS reading there so feel free to use the hint.
Back in 1983 I bought a very small book by Peter Farrow called "What Use Are Moose?". This was published by Thorndike Press, in Thorndike, Maine and has some very amusing drawings and a few memorable passages. Now, may I quote from Peter Farrow about the question "What Use Are Moose?".
"Practitioners of Moose Abuse
Demand to know what use are Moose?
Moose have no use...
Moose need no use...
The Moose, sir, is...
It's own excuse!
And if to this you would reply,
"That answer, sir, just will not do!"
Then tell me please: What use am I?
And - by the way - what use are you?"
And as with all my moose caches, I require that there be moose sign near the cache, and there was a very large hoof print. If I were a moose I'd go there too! A great spot just to sit and contemplate the uses of mooses and other serious subjects. FTF: WoodsRoma!
