This can be done on its own or as part of the walk around Holme
House Wood and Newsholme Dean. Whichever way you do it you will be
in a little known area full of interest.
Look for a small box with small swaps.
The cache site is near an area which used to be the playground
of the working families of Keighley. Many a Sunday would see
crocodiles of merry-makers, freed from the mills temporarily,
trekking up the valley to enjoy the countryside, the "peace and
tranquility", the Childrens' playground and the cafe - we are of an
age to remember the cafe at least! Down in the bottom remains the
ancient clapper bridge, with the not-quite-so-ancient equivalent
right alongside it, as this was probably a drover's or
wool-merchants route some years ago. The nearby hamlet of Newsholme
has buildings dating back to the 1600's. Bring your kiddiwinkies
and a picnic and enjoy a day as we used to so long ago.
This cache can be included with others nearby to make a
fantastic circular walk of some 2 to 2.5 hours.
Park on Fell Lane at the top of the first footpath and visit the
ancient hamlets of Laycock, Goose Eye (the Turkey Inn does its own
brewing!), Newsholme (the country's smallest church!) and Holme
House.
I suggest, in order, park at (approx.) N 53°51.680, W 01°

then across the field to Fell Lane and back to the parking
spot.
With thanks to EagleOwl for allowing me to include her cache in
this series, and for her html coding.
