Geocache Description:

"Grab the Decoys We're Going Duck Hunting' is the subtitle for this cache because I couldn't get it in the name of the cache when I was setting this page up. Anyway, This cache is dedicated to Gordon MacQuarrie who wrote for the Superior Evening Telegram. He was famous for his outdoor writing. He was the first full time professional outdoor writer in the nation and a very good one at that.
Gordon MacQuarrie started his life long love of duck hunting at the age of 27, during October of 1927, where he lived on East 8th Street in Superior, Wisconsin. His father-in-law Al Peck was going to take Gordon duck hunting. Or, was it that he needed someone to row the boat. I don't know if Gordon ever figured that out.
That day in October led to the beginning of "The Old Duck Hunters Association, Inc", the Inc stood for incorrigible. Anyone who reads his writings could realize his love for northern Wisconsin. It was here on Middle Eau Claire Lake that his father who worked in the Superior school system as a carpenter built a log cabin. The cabin still stands today here in southern Bayfield County not very far from where you are standing. MacQuarrie was a teenager then. In those days it was a 16 mile walk to his cabin from a nearby railroad stop. I'm figuring it would have been Gordon, WI. This cabin became the central character in many of his stories.
So, here starts the series which will be in areas and places Gordon wrote about in his books. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting these together.
My thanks also goes out to Keith Crowley for giving me permission for using some of his writing about Gordon MacQuarrie in this description.
