Geocache Description:

One of 7 feeder caches for the Eskapades bonus cache. These caches were originally set when Mrs TC was suffering from a gammy knee and was unable to walk over rough ground. They are therefore suitable for those with children or who are physically unable to do more strenous caches. Glen Esk is a gorgeous place and a trip to the end of there and back makes a lovely drive. Just think how lucky Mr TC is - he actually gets paid to spend time here!
There is space to pull off the road at each cache.

There is a long history of Masons in the glen. The present masonic hall in Tarfside, St. Andrew's Lodge 282, was constituted on 22nd June 1821, with Lord Panmure at their head. Prior to this they metat Dykeneuk, further up the glen close to Dalbrack Bridge. When the new hall at Tarfside opened, a tower was also built on Modlach hill (the hill above you- the three tiered tower is almost directly north of you) This tower is still the spot for the brethrens annual picnic.
The masonic hall in Tarfside is the centre of the community, It is used by the school as a hall, there are dances, shows and regular meetings of comminity groups held there.

We could not find any information on the trough that this cache is set beside! It is obviously much older than the date on the plaque which indicates that it was presented by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Forfarshire to absent brethren in 2007. It was such an oddity to find it at the side of the road that we though it deserved a cache though.

Cache is an aluminium cylinder about twice the size of a film pot - OK for small TBs
