Geocache Description:

As we started to design and build this cache, I remembered my childhood and building similar devices. It was a time that our family had met a wonderful little lady that I came to know as Mrs. Robison. We were given her name by a local humane society after we had found an injured baby robin. She, as a private individual rehabilitated wild life.

Going to her house was like visiting a little zoo. Always ready to greet you at her fence was her wonderful dog Tico, (a monster of a Samoyed which she rescued). And often times behind Tico, there would be an otter or deer looking to for a tussle or scratch behind its ears. All around her house there were baby squirrels, raccoons, ducks, and even a fox. It was quite a sight to see.

The one thing that really stood out was the cage in the corner of her property. It was made of chicken wire. Each month it would be home to be a different bird - a barn owl, great snowy owl, falcon and then there was the adult red tail hawk. I swore it was an eagle. This bird was massive, his feet and talons would wrap completely around the perch but Mrs. Robison would stick her hand in the cage and bring him out on her arm to exercise his damaged wing. She would do this by raising him up and down. On the downward stroke, he would open his wings and flap to keep his balance. It was quite a sight. To fully appreciate it you have to understand, Mrs. Robison was about 90lbs. I half expected the hawk just to take off and fly away with her.

We were very lucky to have known her and her husband for many years and even learned a thing or two about raising wild animals as we babysat and later learned to rehab animals ourselves. I cannot imagine just how many animals she took care of each year, let alone in her life time. This cache is dedicated to her.

Note: The idea for this cache was blatantly stolen from another, the owner of that cache deserves full credit for the creativity.
