Geocache Description:

This was originaly called Hill Cache 2 and placed by ChrisHouston. Was looking a bit bare around SE London, so have replaced it.

The gardens are open until dusk every day. You won't need to bash any bushes or go anywhere you aren't allowed to find the cache. The cache is in the shade, so you won't get a good GPS signal at it, but if you wander around the general location, you'll find the best route to it.

The Horniman Museum and Gardens were a gift to the people of London from wealthy victorian tea trader Frederick Horniman in 1901. The museum has collections relating to world cultures, natural history and musical instruments, and is open from 10:30am until 5:30pm daily.

Samuel Mathers, one of the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn lived with his wife Moina in a house on the grounds when he was assistant librarian to Frederick Horniman, and some of the earliest Golden Dawn rituals and initiations took place here. The house was demolished after being bomb damaged in the Second World War.
