Levens Left Bank #5, at the end of the avenue, One in a series of five caches along Levens Park Avenue
As a young Mancunian boy, I can remember watching an appeal on TV to stop the ministry of transport from ploughing a “motorway” through the ancient avenue of trees leading down to Levens Hall in 1968/9 and the local MP Michael Jopling asking for a diversion. Forty years later this series celebrates the reprieve of this avenue of oaks. Roadside Parking is available near either SW or NE end of the avenue. Refreshments available most days from Levens Hall This route can be linked into a round trip by also visiting caches on the other bank, and Force falls. Nearby is Levens Hall itself, the cache is opposite the Hall with its world renown topiary gardens (admission charges for House and Garden but NOT for Parking visit to Café and Gift shop) and is at the very start (or end )of the avenue of 300 year old oaks.
