This cache requires travel to the Lower Falls island. There is a rowboat rental available from Memorial Day thru Labor Day, and weekends thru October. Daring folks can cross the river upstream of the island if the water is low and you wear appropriate footgear.
The Lower Falls island is a sandstone outcropping surrounded by rushing waterfalls. The large hemlocks and white pine are estimated to be over 100 years old. The sandstone has wave-like impressions and offers great views of the waterfall.
Bug spray will be necessary May - July.
