Lodge Hill
This cache is part of a circular walk on the edge of Abingdon. I hope you will enjoy the walk, taking in the views of the surrounding countryside. From the top of Lodge Hill, you look down on the north side of Abingdon and Peach Croft Farm.
In the distance, you can see the ‘blot on the landscape’ Didcot Power Station with its chimneys. Beyond you have views of the Ridgeway. This public footpath leads to Radley College. Radley College was founded in 1847 by William Sewell and Robert Singleton, and is one of only three remaining schools in the United Kingdom that admits only boys and at which all boys are boarders. The school is centred around a Mansion, formerly Radley Hall (built 1721 to 1725).
Opposite this cache (on the other side of the main road) is the famous Robert Mattock Rose Nursery.
There is room for 2 cars at this first cache.
