As the signboard at the entrance to this bend tells us, Mark
Sill (1818 – 1885) planted an orchard here in the 1850's, and
quite a number of introduced plantings still remain, including
several ancient pear trees. The orchard was ultimately
unsuccessful. The area was also used for a swimming club in the
early 1900's, and easy river access is still found at the far end
of the bend.
The Cache:
The posted coordinates will take you to waypoint 1, where you need
to find the coordinates for the cache. You will know when you have
found them.
The cache is a 1 litre container painted to suit its
surroundings, and should be easy to find.
It will be in your interest to note the suggested Parking area,
accessable from the north side of the river.
