Can almost be driven to. Without 4-wheel drive DO NOT try to drive thru the sand. You will not make it! Plenty of area to park without driving thru the sand.
An unnamed lake, probably man-made during reconstruction of the highway. During migrations, many different species of ducks/geese rest here instead of battling the elements on Lake Superior. Nearly always deer and other wildlife are spotted here, including the occasional bear. Wild blueberries, strawberries, juneberries are abundant (note: our harvest seasons are later than most of the contiguous U.S.). Access is at Forest Trail 459 (N 46* 27.800 W 086*55.763). The trail is marked by a (leaning) wooden post with the trail number inscribed vertically.
Cache container replaced 11/09/09 with one that will not collect water inside..
