Geocache Description:

Another in The Edge of the Wilderness Series Geocaches

The Edge of the Wilderness Edge of the WildernessNational Scenic Byway

Celebrate our northern hospitality, hometown pride and the treasures of our natural heritage. The adventurous voyageurs of nearly 300 years ago discovered it and now you can too, The Edge of the Wilderness National Scenic Byway.

You don't need an excuse to spend time on Highway 38 during the Fall of the year, the colors of the season are usually enough reason for a pleasurable drive. But if it's not Fall, maybe a little Geocaching is a good excuse too.

The quaint little town of Effie (Pop. 90) really deserved a nice Geocache. This one has been placed near the main intersection which is the center of activity here. You can visit the Edge of the Wilderness kiosk which contains a plethora of information on the city's history. Take a little time to read the interesting and informative facts and learn the rich history of this small but active community in Northern Minnesota.

This is a multi-stage cache with a small container as the final. It contains the typical contents for a Geocache but there's not a lot of extra space for trading items. Due to it's location, it might make a nice place for trading small TB's & Geocoins.

Remember to take a deep breath of the oxygen-rich and exceptionally clean air while you're here. Imagine how great it would be to live life at the same pace as Effie's citizens, it's truly God's Country.

Congrats to FTF Alcatraz Swim TeamTwoEagles! I hope that ice cream cone was good! EskoClimber gets the STF award! The Cushman Rider claimed a shiny 1975 penny as the TTF.

Remember: Caching is Cool!
