Based on Dan Brown’s Bestselling Novel "Angels and Demons"
In the 1500s, a group of scientists began to meet secretly to discuss their beliefs of the church’s inaccurate teachings and to dedicate themselves to finding scientific truth. This group called themselves “the enlightened ones”, or the Illuminati. The Illuminati were hunted by the Catholic Church and therefore were forced to meet at secret locations. As word spread, the Illuminati brotherhood grew and eventually included academics from all of Europe. They met in Rome in a secret place they called the “Church of Illumination”. However, four of the members were discovered and tortured by the Church as a warning for others not to join the Illuminati. The Illuminati fled Italy, but continued to grow.
To keep their meetings secret, the Illuminati created a “map”. Four different sculptures were created that appeared to fit in completely with the architecture of ancient Rome and which looked religious so as not to draw the attention of the church. These sculptures were placed in four corners of Rome, creating a cross structure when joined together. Each statue symbolized one of the four elements: earth, air, fire, and water. Once the first of the statues was found, it would contain clues to lead to the next sculpture until finally the meeting place of the Illuminati could be found. In this way, the church would not find the meeting place and only the most elite of scholars would be able to find where the Church of Illumination lay.
Your goal: to follow the Path of Illumination and find the ultimate end point, the Church of Illumination.
The coordinates to the first of the four clues are listed above. Find the correct “sculpture” and gather the clues to lead you down the Path of Illumination. Each “sculpture” will symbolize one of the four elements, so keep this in mind when determining which “sculpture” should be used. Once all four points of the cross-shaped path have been found, use clues from each of the steps to determine where the Church of Illumination is located.
