Geocache Description:

This cache is located in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Freedom Twp of Henry County. The posted coordinates will take you to a sign at the site of the original church building.



On one side of the sign is a list of the church's pastors from it's inception in 1869 to it's centennial in 1969. Answer the following questions to find the final cache, which is a small camo'd lock n lock, in the form of N41 27.ABC W084 10.DEF.


A The number of letters in the 2nd pastor's name minus the number of letters in the 7th's.
B The most prominent number in G. Thun's years of service.
C W.L. Fischer's place on the list.
D The number of pastors with only one first initial.
E The 3rd number in A. Beroset's final year as pastor.
F The total number of letters in Pastor Dulitz's name minus his place on the list.



Like in most of the cemeteries in the area, there are many headstones with German epitaphs. However, there were a few in this cemetery that seemed a bit odd - they touted their owner's service in WWI in the American Expeditionary Force. What sets these apart is that once the United States entered the war, anti-German hysteria hit the country and most Americans of German heritage gave up their native language for English.


The "SQ" in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project by the Northwest Ohio Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries and memorial gardens. This cache is part of that series created by NWOGEO members to highlight cemeteries or memorial gardens in the area.
