Geocache Description:

This is a geocache decathlon on Raystown Lake. You will need a boat for this multi-stage cache. Some terrain is very difficult but an out of shape 50 yo. man and his 12 and 18 yo. boys set each cache in 2009.

The 10 stages are set in the northern 10 miles of the lake. The caches are various Tupperware and plastic containers with screw top lids painted in a gray green camo. Each cache tells you the coordinates of the next cache.

ANOTHER UPDATE!
July 2016 Our intention for this cache is to be adventurous. We used to go to Raystown Lake every year, but we have sold our boat and are not vacationing like we used to. We have enjoyed the lake for many many years and hope these caches will inspire some more adventures to others. With that said....

We have listed each coordinate for each cache. Most caches are easy to find once you get there, definitely need a kayak, canoe or boat to get close to the coordinates. If a log is wet or missing please, if you can, replace.

And feel free to log a "found" smiley face and how many you found in your log along with any adventurous stories to your finds. YOU DON'T HAVE TO FIND ALL 10.

Hope this inspires some to find some hidden nooks and crannies in this amazing lake that we have enjoyed for so many years!

UPDATE!
June 2013 checked on all stages, double checked coordinates. Updated and posted Waypoints for each stage. All is accurate now as we had coordinate issues for Stage 8 in the past. The clues and coordinates on the containers are all up-to-date as well.

As of all our years vacationing at Raystown lake and our last visit in June 17-20, 2013 we did not see any snakes... thankfully! Nor too many ants We have enjoyed placing each cache, Please be careful! We have seen a beaver and a big snapper turtle.

***Congratulations to Browneyedgirl789 for patience, determination and FTF!***

***Also a Congratulations to the crash test dummies for the being the first to complete the decathlon in a non powered vehicle (canoes and kayaks?) I will give a FTF to anyone who can complete all 10.

You don't have to have specialized equipment other than the boat as I did it in shorts, ill fitting sneakers and no bug spray. At STAGE 3 there are coordinates in the book if anyone wants to tackle trekking to the top of the mountain which was done back in 2009 but we haven't done again and have no plans to check-up on that container in the future. But, hypothetically, if I was to do the third leg again to the top of the mountain, I would want long pants, bug spray, water, baseball cleats, two ski poles and a masseuse waiting for me back at the campsite!

There is a logbook and a few trinkets in each but basically the reward is to finish. Post the time it took you to finish as I am sure the most hardy out there will try to have the best time.

I have post additional coded clues that will give you some help aids for each leg. And remember the WAYPOINTS for each stage is posted!

Stage one: Don't go all the way in.

Stage two. We did dock our boat on a calm mid-week June day 2013, previous year Mrs. Skypatrol destroyed the prop doing a tactical drop-off (WATCH THE ROCK UNDERWATER AT THE POINT) or Anchor out and swim in. This is a decathlon ya know! this is the first of 3 spots where there is an excellent place to cliff dive. The water is hundreds of feet deep here.

Stage three: bottom of mountain cache... easier to find than the trekking to the top. Top of the mountain trekkers: This is where the baseball cleats, long pants, sturdy shoes and ski poles or walking stick would come in real handy. Coordinates are for base of climb. Senoia's 8 points to 113. South is the plan almost to hunters stand. Cold ashes on port side trail point to cleft where you cannot fail. Coordinates to cache in encrypted clue.

Stage four and five: Sneakers best here but I do it with bare feet as these are the other two excellent jump sites. Stage 5 has a 35 foot drop into 40 feet of water. Me and the boys have been jumping here since the 18 yo was 6. Actual coordinates for stage 5 in waypoints. Hop like a toad 20 yards up the road, look to right to get a fright. Tread carefully, as Yocum welcomes you civilly. Another 113 yards a line of sight a foot, two tall portside pines joined at the root.Of heights you cant be be fraid, you'll need long arms to have it made. Careful! High is Cache but close to splash!

Stage six and seven: Water shoes and bug spray best here.

Stage Eight: Sturdy climbing shoes, walking stick and water.

Stage Nine: Easy Peasy. Coordinates for stage 10 change to W 077 12 yo. states.

Stage ten: Bring Binoculars and look for the eagles. Actual coordinates to place boat and look for eagle nest posted in Waypoints.
