This cache has been archived.

Corinian: This one has gone - or more precisely the car park furniture has been redone. If I find some time, I may resite, but in the meantime, if anyone else wants to place one here, then pls be my guest!

Geocache Description:

Side Tracked caches have become a nationwide series of caches for public transport users. They are intended to provide quick cache-and-dashes at or nearby railway stations. Caches can be found close to stations of the national rail network and well as heritage railways.

***Updated the name to fit with the "Really Sidetracked" Series*****

Except you won't be able to get here by train - bus, maybe, train, well Kemble's your closest option.

Cirencester Town Railway Station was the terminus of the GWR's branch line from Kemble. It was one of two stations in the town, the other being Cirencester Watermoor, operated by the Midland and South Western Junction Railway (visit link) Opened in 1841, the branch line was an obvious candidate for the Beeching Axe, and closed in 1964. The sidings area is now a car park, although the station buildlings survive, and it isn't too hard to imagine this as a working railway area. A little bit more information on the former station and its layout can be found on an information board near Waitrose. I've added this as a waypoint.

The cache - a 35 mm film cannister - you can park very close to it - and closer if you happen to have a particular form of transport.
