Die Kitzkammer auf dem Hohen Meißner
An dieser
Stelle findet Ihr die "Kitzkammer".
Der Meißner
war früher kein Berg, sondern eine flache Senke mit subtropischem
Klima. Damals wuchsen an der Stelle, wo heute der Meißner steht,
dichte Wälder, deren Bäume später zu Kohle wurden, die noch viel
später am Meißner abgebaut wurde.
Am Ende
dieses geologischen Zeitabschnitts trat dünnflüssige Lava aus
Spalten und Rissen aus, welche an der abwärtsgewandten
Abkühlungsfläche kristallisierte und fünf mehreckige Basaltsäulen
herausbildete. Das Material dieser Säulen heißt "Hyalines
Olivinbasalt" und besteht zu 30 bis 50 Prozent aus
Glas.
Die
"Kitzkammer" ist eine dieser Spalten, aus denen die Lava
austrat.
Durch die
Auswaschung des weicheren Gesteins während der letzten 1.5
Millionen Jahre erhielt der Meißner seine heutige charakteristische
Form.
Um die
Logerlaubnis zu erhalten, ist folgendes zu tun:
1.
Begebt euch zur "Kitzkammer" und macht ein Bild
von Euch oder von Eurem GPSr vor der Kitzkammer. Hängt das Bild an
Euer Log an.
2. Beantwortet die folgenden Fragen und sendet
mir die Antworten per Mail:
a. Vor
wievielen Jahren war der Meißner kein Berg?
b. Wie hieß
diese Zeit?
c. Welche
Art von Bäumen wurde zur Kohle?
d. In
welches Tier verwandelt "Frau Holle" der Sage nach zänkische
Mädchen?
Fast alle
Informationen können vor Ort eingeholt werden.
Mit dem senden der Informationen an mich erhaltet Ihr die
Logerlaubnis. Sollte es Probleme geben, melde ich mich bei

On this
place you will find the "Kitzkammer", a geological natural
monument.
The Meißner
former was not a mountain but a flat senk with subtropical climate.
In this time there where thick forests and the trees later in time
became coal.
At the end
of a geological age there float thin lava out of cracks in the
earth which got crystalized downwards the cooling surface and
transformed to five polygonal basaltcolums. The matrial of the
columns is called hyalin olivinbasalt. 30% to 50% of the stone is
out of glass.
The
"Kitzkammer" itself is one of those cracks where the lava came out
of earth.
Because of
localised flatting of the softer stones and rocks during the past
1.5 million years the Meißner gets his characteristic
form.
To log this
cache do the following things:
1. Get to the location and
take a picture of yourself or your GPSr in front of the Kitzkammer.
Add the picture to your log.
2. Answer the following questions and send the
answers to me:
a. How many
years ago the Meißner was not a mountain?
b. How is
this time or age called?
c. Which
type of trees became to coal?
d. In which
animal transforms "Frau Holle" angry girls (following the
legend)?
