Tai gražiausias XVIII a. fachverkinis sandelis. Klaipedoje fachverkas buvo ypac populiarus praejusio amžiaus pirmojoje puseje, kai Napoleono karu metu uostamiestyje suklestejo prekyba, o kaupiamas kapitalas teigiamai stimuliavo miesto augima. Yra likes to meto Klaipedos piešinys iš Smiltynes puses. Jame šalia bažnycios bokšto, laivu stiebu ir vejiniu malunu matyti i aukšti kylanciu daugiaaukšciu sandeliu siluetai. Fachverko populiaruma XIX a. taip pat patvirtina kaip tik ši senamiescio dalis, esanti tarp Didžiosios Vandens gatves ir Turgaus aikštes. Kaip matote, joje tebestovi iki musu dienu išlikusios dideles fachverkiniu statiniu grupes, kiemai bei priemenes ir šis ispudingas pastatas, išvenges net 1854 m. didžiojo Klaipedos gaisro bei velesniu sugriovimu.

There you will see the oldest buildings of the city, dating from the middle of the 18th century. They are warehouses built in the fachwerk style. This construction, influenced by Germanic culture, has been used since the foundation of the City. This method of construction was especially suitable for the marshy soil as frame constructions are lighter than the stone. Unfortunately, many of these buildings were destroyed by fire.
The tiny downtown houses and fachwerk-styled warehouses are being used by various art organizations – writers, artists and photographers. There you can find small art galleries, museums, souvenir shops and cosy cafes.
