Landstrom Railbed is hidden along a part of the old Kettle
Valley Railway (KVR) that ran through this area starting in 1914
when the Fraser Hope Bridge was built. Railway traffic traveled
past the cache location and over the Fraser River on the lower
deck, while regular highway traffic traveled across the river on
the upper deck. When you walk down the stairs at the trailhead, you
can still see where the trains would have traveled over the
bridge.
Parking is available at the posted parking coordinates and it is
HIGHLY advisable that you take the stairs located
at the trailhead coordinates as this will take you UNDER the
highway. The only other way to get to the cache would be to cross
the highway itself, which is both dangerous and ill-advised.
The cache is a 30cal ammo can. Some light rock climbing is
required (over, not up). The high rock walls make the GPS signal
bounce all over the place, so if you can't find it just with the
coordinates, then check the hint for a little more help.
Cache on!
Congrats to Cyclepath Cacher on being
FTF!!
