Geocache Description:

This is the first cache in our Lands End series. This series will take you along Lands End Road starting at the Grand Mesa National Forest border, along the twists and turns of it’s switchbacks, over the rim of the Grand Mesa and beyond. This area is one of our favorite places to be, and we thought that it deserved more attention and appreciation for the beauty that is here.

Many years ago, the area below this cache was mostly cleared using large tractors and a heavy chain. There use to be a sign here that explained what was done, but it was recently removed. Now, the vegetation has almost completely grown back and so there is little easily identified evidence of what was done. Where this cache is located, is a favorite spot for late season hunters to watch for big game moving to lower elevations. Off to the Southwest, Juniata and Purdy Mesa reservoirs are easily seen from several vantage points along the road.
