Geocache Description:

A cache hidden in a rather obscure spot near to one of the most crowded junctions in the world. I have passed this place many times in the last 10 years, and it struck me recently as an ideal hide for a container a bit larger than the usual micro. Unfortunately it got nicked. Then the next one did. Anyhow now it is small enough for a very skinny TB and probably not a coin.

Soho has always had a history of amoral and illegal behavior so be careful of who you might disturb here after dark.

After 'The Blitz' bombing attacks of the second world war, London was left with many cleared areas marking the position of badly damaged buildings. Sixty years later there are few signs left of these areas except for this one close to Piccadilly Circus.

As to why this area has not been developed since the war, there is evidence of flooded underground structures here, thankfully unreachable, so perhaps the cost of re-development might be slightly too high in the current climate.

The theme for this cache is a long defunct danceclub called The Scene, which was a popular haunt in the 60's for the musical/style movement known as the Mods. It was located here in Ham Yard and was very much the 'mod central' club of swinging London of 1963. The cache is magnetic and hidden at ground level, but not presently overlooked as the offices around have all been cleared pending re-development. It can be spotted quite easily once you know where to look, but is sometimes obscured.

Hidden on the feast of St. Dogfan.
