Geocache Description:

The Seven Summits Trail passes within striking distance of 7 peaks of the Rossland Range along a 30.4 km long trail. This cache series takes you up all 7 peaks - no passing them by on the trail!

There are several access points to the Seven Summits Trail. It is most commonly walked North to South, since it is overall downhill in that direction. The north trailhead is at Strawberry Pass on highway 3B; the south trailhead is at "KM 12" (1st summit) on the Old Rossland-Cascade Rd. The trail can also be accessed by the Plewman trail, which joins the Seven Summits trail near the junction with the trail up to Old Glory.

Detailed information about the Seven Summits trail and side trips to the peaks can be found here: KCTS Website. Thank you to the Kootenay Columbia Trails Society, who maintains this and other trails in such fantastic condition!!

Record Mtn. can be accessed from several spots on the Seven Summits trail. The most direct route is from Record Notch directly up the boulder field from N49 05.703 W117 52.717 (THREC1); about 500m with elevation gain of 140m. The least steep way is along the ridge from N49 05.281 W117 52.820, which is the north end of Record Ridge (TRREC2); about 1km with elevation gain of 90m. Going up the East face of Record Mtn. anywhere between those points works too. Regardless of which way you choose, there is no trail. You're aiming for the top.

Please watch out for mountain bikers on the trail, and be bear aware!
