Geocache Description:

The desination is a short walk from the gravel parking lot. Please exercise caution among the deadfall in the area and tread lightly. All measurements are accurate within 5 m under heavy tree cover.

The cache is a small camo Lock n' Lock with contents consisting of:

-Random auto tune-up parts, (spark plug, points, etc.)
-Matchbox/Hot wheels VW toys
-Automotive memorabilia/stickers
-Travel bug

This cache is dedicated to a man of the same name but different fame.
John Muir (1918-1977) remains legendary among the vintage VW community for his work authoring "How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive".
His efforts continue to be instrumental in keeping the many bugs and buses running, the same vehicles prevalent on roads throughout Vancouver Island and the entire West Coast.

John believed that every person could handle most roadside repairs armed only with basic tools, parts and a bit of knowledge. As such, this cache is geared towards the maintenance and memorabilia surrounding these iconic vehicles. It also combines my fondness for these machines with caching.

It's not hard to imagine conducting a little roadside repair in the parking lot, afterwards taking a moment to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere in the shadows of giant Fir and Spruce trees as cars roll on past.

"Love and good roads" - John Muir
