"Wilsey Cemetery"
Welcome to Wilsey Cemetery.
The fence is new in 2013, use the pedestrian gate just north of the southern entrance to access the cemetery. Park along the shoulder of the road.
There are many old graves in this historic cemetery, located in rural Clinton County. It is still active, with a lot of new graves as well. The cemetery contains some very interesting stones, both old and new. Many veterans are buried here, including Civil War, World War I and Word War II veterans. This is an old cemetery, we found stones that date back into the 1840's as well as a few whose names or dates can no longer be read.
We encourage you to assist with general maintenance while visiting the cemetery
If you notice a branch lying in the cemetery, please pick it up and place it near one of the trash barrels in the cemetery. This cemetery contains many mature trees which drop branches frequently. If geocachers help with this task, it will make things easier for the cemetery maintenance staff. Obviously, the usual CITO principles also apply.
.
The posted coordinates lead you to the grave of Blanche Elizabeth Harte. Mrs. Harte was a teacher in the Bath Consolidated School system and was one of the dozens of victims of the tragic Bath School Disaster in 1927. See the links to related caches later on this page.
You will need to find some data near Mrs. Harte's grave and fill in the following two blanks.
A _____ B_____
When standing in front of Mrs. Harte's grave, determine her age at the time she died based on data on the stone. This value minus 9=A. This value plus 1 = B.
A and B represent the minimum and maximum numbers of steps you are likely to need to take in order to find the cache location, depending upon your height and leg length. The Best Half of our team has shorter legs and took B steps to reach the location, the taller Older Half of our team only took A steps to reach it. Most people should fall in the range somewhere between these two values. Standing directly in front of Mrs. Harte's marker, take A to B steps to the NNW. From here you should be able to use your caching instincts to find the cache. Micro cachers are unlikely to be able to find this one.
