Future Park: Miner's Corner Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

LostSparky: This cache lasted far longer than I expected it would. Almost 4 years is a good run for any cache. But the construction of the new park has finally begun, and fences are up around the property. Thanks for all the finds!

Geocache Description:

A park in exchange for a sewage treatment plant.

Container is a camoed lock-n-lock. Initial contents, reflecting my name and occupation, are little electrical gadgets.
The 12 acres on which this park will be built were acquired as part of mitigation for the construction of the Brightwater sewage plant a mile to the east. Plans for the site include a playing field, basketball and tennis courts, picnic and play areas and trails. But for now, there's the abandoned fields and yards of the farms that were once here.

Update April 2013: Construction on 228th is winding down, but the county has put the park project out for bid, and it could be starting anytime. I'll be keeping an eye out for signs of that and will shut down the cache when it happens. I've updated the parking coords to a side street off of 45th across from the "park". Please head north from there along 45th to the open field before crossing the park. Some of the woods immediately to the east of the parking coords will be part of the park, but they're a bit too close to private property, and we don't want to make the neighbors nervous!

Warning: Though there will be lots of trails here once the park is built, there are none now, especially near the cache. The terrain is flat, but the cacher will have to maneuver around scotch broom, stickery hawthorn trees, blackberries and lots of tall grass. In other words, long pants and sturdy shoes advised. It's also best to stay away from the sites of the former buildings, marked with yellow tape.
Congrats to GrievousAngel for the FTF.
