The cache is located in Kittatinny Valley State Park. I enjoy this park and I hope to bring you to a less known and used area. You are looking for a 7”x5”x4” Lock & Lock box. There are many possible hiding places here among the rocks. That’s why it is rated with a relatively high difficulty. GPS will bounce a bit (accuracy may be within 28 feet!) but come on you’re up for the challenge. The coordinates are averaged. Elevation 715 feet.
This cache is the second in a series of caches intended to remind us of nature’s diversity. It is meant to be just a little educational but mostly, it’s meant to be fun. Each cache in the series has cards containing a little information about the subject animal. Don’t forget to take an information card with you.
I tried to locate the cache in a place where you might find the animal. [And even though I could have placed the white-tailed deer cache in anyone’s backyard, I didn’t.] I placed them in several parks/forests in northern NJ. There are a total of 6 caches in this series (with three more planned). The six are: Black Bear (GC1V9M7), White-Tailed Deer, Beaver, Rattlesnake, Mallard, and Coyote.
Each cache is stocked with a variety of trade items. This is not a themed cache so feel free to trade any item that you wish. The first to find prize in each cache is a coin bearing the animal’s image on one side; and the cache name on the other.
