Another old fire tower location deep in the Forest of Central Oregon.
Heading home from John Day and I had to get away from the rats racing along. As if the location they are heading to is not going to be there 10 minutes later.
Anyway.
This location has little in a view as the trees have grown way up but the sights to see on the way in here are real good.
Lots of large Ponderosa Pines, Large White Firs, Several nice sized Western Larch plus lots of wild flowers and shrubs where in bloom today as I placed the cache.
The road in from 26 is very good most of the way.
Then it gets a little shaky and rough.
The last chunk of road is, well, not car friendly.
I had to move a few trees out of the road in order to get all the way up to the lookout site so be ready to get out and walk if needed.
While in the area, get your rock hounding fix as well. Stop in Prineville at the BLM office and get some local rock information.
Your looking for a camouflaged ammo can hidden fair, with a little surprise that need to be replaced the way you find it. Let the next person have some entertainment as well.
There was one gate to open - close. Remember the range rule is to leave the gates as you find them.
