Geocache Description:

Another interesting location with a lot of history.

The County Poor Farm or the County Home or the County Infirmary as it has been sometimes called in the past dates back to 1860, but not in its present location.
On March 11, 1915 the county purchased the 194 acre current home site for the sum of $7,000.00. On April 10, 1916 the County Court awarded Johnson and Jemison of Middlebourne a contract for the construction of the county home for $27,225.00 with a seperate heating contract to the O'Hare Company of Clarksburg for $2,163.00.
S.W. Ford was paid $400.00 for the design and $600.00 for building inspection duties.
The cornerstone was laid on July 4, 1916....... 93 years ago today!...... by the Masons.
The Home was in operation until 1951.
Many of the residents are now across the highway in the Memories.... Tyler County Home site.... GC1H6X5

When placed the cache contained Blastin' Blueberry Hand Sanitizer, lizard, race car, marbles, dice, wooden nickel, and coin.

FTF congratulations go to smithdk. Way to go!
