Road racing has taken place in the Carrick On Suir area since the early 1970s. In 1976 the organisers, the Blackchurch Racing Association moved the races to a circuit near the village of Faugheen. Racers came from all over the country and beyond to compete at this fast and challenging circuit. That first era of racing finished in 1986 due to increased costs. The races were revived in 2003 by a group of motorcycle enthusiasts. Thousands of spectators travel to watch this event which takes place over a weekend in the summer. The circuit is 3.7km long and runs anti-clockwise. A fast lap can be completed in under 1 min 25 seconds.
To find this cache you will have to travel to various points around the circuit to acquire the numbers needed for the final position.
Start at the co-ordinates posted at the top of this page. You are now standing at the end of the main straight and 1st corner.
You should see a signpost. What is the first single digit after 'Suir'? This is answer A.
Next speed down to the 2nd corner at N52 22.953 W7 24.727
Look at the signpost. Again, what is the first single digit after 'Suir'? Make this answer B.
Open the throttle and head for the village end of the circuit. Make a quick pitstop near the 4th corner at N52 23.572 W7 24.307
You should be standing by a gate. How many vertical bars (excluding the outer edges) does it have? Call this answer C.
Add these three answers to the following to give the final grid position:
N52 23.((A+B)x70)+(Ax2)-B W7 25.(10xC)+B-2
Power down the main straight now towards the chequered flag and cache glory!
