This is a normal sized ammo can hidden in Kellogg Experimental
Forest.
This is our first ammo can hide and we hid it in the section of
Kellogg Experimental Forest to the west of 42nd street. This
section of the forest is much less used than the 'main' area across
the street. I didn't realize how big the section to the west was
until I walked through there the other day looking for some where
to hide a new cache.
This cache can be done round trip in a little under a mile if you
choose the correct trails, but if you make a couple of wrong turns,
you'll just enjoy a little more of the park. Whichever way you end
up coming from to find the cache, you can continue on and loop back
around to the start in a little over a mile round trip. You may
bring your dog, but please keep on a leash.
We named it 1canSam after Froot Loops - since it's Kellogg Forest.
But since this isn't a multi, and we only hid one ammo can, we
couldn't name it Tucan Sam.
Parking for this cache is in the 'normal' Kellogg Experimental
Forest lot to the east of 42nd street. Please do not park along
side the road. The gate to this side of the park is across the
street from the parking lot. The gate is locked, and has a 'no
parking' sign, but there's a patch to the left of the gate you may
enter through.
There's no entry to the park after 8pm.
Note: The trails are all pretty obvious, but none are marked, and
there's not a map, so bring a sense of direction or punch in a
waypoint when you enter the gate, else you might be walking around
for awhile.
Congrats to RXWranglers for FTF!
