Geocache Description:

The general area can be driven to with most any vehicle via forest roads. The hike to the cache is short and realitivly easy but not on an established trail.

The cache is an ammo box located among a small grouping of boulders that were there long before man set foot in the area.

The Logging Industry built an extensive railroad system throughout the Coconino Forest from the 1890's thru the 1930's. All of the railroads were abandoned and the rails removed when trucking became the preferred method of transportation of the logs. It is rumored that Chinese Immigrants were used for most of the labor (hence the name China Bridge). Stones and boulders were stacked to create the rail beds and span ravines. This location has the largest boulder bridge that we have found in the forest. The location of the China Bridge can be driven to with most any vehicle via a well maintained forest road. Most people drive by the bridge without seeing it due to the trees (park to the west of the bridge location). Once you find the bridge you will need to take a short and easy hike to the cache location. It IS NOT necessary to walk on top of the bridge to locate the cache. While exploring the area be sure to note the large trees now growing where the trains once ran. Also keep an eye out for rail spikes that were left behind when the rails were removed.
