Geocache Description:

I am The Traveler. This is My tale.
In Search of the Raven King

The Seplucher

The Mark of The Raven

THIS IS A PUZZLE CACHE

THE CACHE IS NOT LOCATED AT THE LISTED COORDINATES

The legends surrounding the very man whose grave I seek are as numerous as those of King Arthur himself.

He is known as Robin of Locksley to many. Others he is know him as Robin of Hood. Some know him as The Ghost of Sherwood Forrest. Yet there is one name few know him by - The Raven King.

As with all legends there is myth and there is truth. Often the myth is woven so tightly around the legend that it is hard to distinguish between truth and lie. However this much we know is true. “Mortally wounded the hero lay upon a bed. He called to his faithful servant and asked for his bow of ash and the arrows made of oak and flint. He raised his bow and knocked an arrow on the string. He raised the bow towards the open window and the arrow was let fly. A search was held to find the arrow. The search lasted for many days and once the arrow was found, hidden deep within the forest, on the edge of a hill, beside a large white and gray tree, the body of the Raven King was laid to rest.”

”Upon the day of his funeral and before he laid beneath the mound that would become his eternal home, his beloved, Maid Marian, placed a medallion upon his breast. This medallion was unique because The Raven King, as a sign of his eternal love, had given it to Marian. The design on the medallion was that of a tree with continuous leaves - signifying the eternity. As they were never separated in life, Marian placed the medallion upon Robin's chest, intertwining his fingers around the leather chord, so that they would never be separated in death.“

Nearby the coordinates that I derived through my calculations using the sextant, I saw the mark and I knew I was in the right place. I knelt beside the tree and there I remained transfixed for quite some time. Mesmerized.

Snapping out of my dream like trance I begin to dig and after a short amount of time I found what I had sought for... a small wooden box. With trembling hands I opened what remained of the Raven King.
