Geocache Description:

Cache is a 11.5 litre ice cream bucket hidden on Metchosin Mountain. Enjoy the hike and the view. An new micro geocoin has been placed in the cache as a FTF prize.

Update: When this cache was hidden the Private Property Sign was not at the trailhead indicated. There is an access point at the end of Hackamore Drive. Lumbo Tire, WingSaber and GeoHackers were asked to do an interview on the local talk radio station, CFAX 1070. To celebrate the event we offered to place a cache which had some CFAX memorabilia in it. The radio host was very kind and found a mug, water bottle and some bumper stickers to place in the cache. We have also added a couple of small radios, headphones and some other odds and ends. When looking for a place to hide the cache I made a trip up to the Mushroom Doom cache, "One Year of Doom" (GCVQ8X) and loved the location so I decided to place the cache on the same mountain. I thought this may encourage others to visit for the first time or come back. There is a great place for a picnic on the way up that overlooks Race Rocks. It is a flat area that almost looks like a little field. When you make it this far you are most of the way. To find this cache first you need to go to the posted coordinates and find a trail head. This should be pretty easy to find. Follow this to the top following the direction as noted in the "Year of Doom" cache. Watch out for ants as there are lots of them. At the top of the hill, you need to find a large "rock" which is the location for stage 2. The rock is not at the waymark posted but it is the neighbourhood. DON"T PROJECT A WAYPOINT FROM THE WAYMARK POSTED. You need to go the general area and mark a waypoint for this rock (stage 2). You may even want to take a picture of one of the members of your party on top of the rock. Now project a waypoint from the actual position of the rock (stage 2) which is 179 metres and 193.5 degrees true from the rock this is the final location. Now go get the cache. It is hidden in a rotting log. Please be careful of environment. The cache is hidden within 50 m of the trail we used to climb the hill. The walk over to the cache involved some careful steps through the brown grass. As an extra hint have a look at the video. It may be helpful in finding the rock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyViryliiCQ
