Thede #4 Stóra Dímun Traditional Cache
TeamThede: The island "Stóra Dímun" can only be reached now and then, wherefore it is difficult to place and maintain. That is the reason, why I have decided to close it. But if you have the chance to go to "Stóra Dímun" you should catch the opportunity. ;-)

Det kan være meget besværligt at komme frem til cachen. En udfordring for de fleste, men en utrolig flot oplevelse.
Itan can be very difficult to get uppon the island. A challenge for most people, but amazing!
Stóra Dímun er en af de 18 øer som udgør Færøerne. Stóra Dímun er 2,7 km2 stor og beboet af en enkelt familie.
Øen ligger meget afsides og er med sine stejle skråninger ned mod havet næsten utilgængelig. Kun et enkelt sted, ved Kleivin, er opstigning fra stranden mulig, men ikke ufarlig. Kun i perioder med klart og stille vejr er det muligt at sejle til øen, men der er regelmæssig helekopterservice hele året.
Den vestlige side af øen udgøres af et højt, lodret forbjerg, med det højeste sted Høgoyggj på 396 m, og mod nordvest ses den 27 m høje fritstående klippe Øssursdrangur. Mod sy rejser den 308 meter høje Klettarnir sig.
Cachen er en 1/2 liter plastic-beholder, indeholdende logbog, FFC og lidt småting til at bytte med. Den virkelige skat er at være på øen! ;-)

Stóra Dímun is one of 18 islands which is the Faroe Islands. It is 2,7 km2 and only one family is living on the island.
The island is accessible from sea only during periods of clear and calm weather, but regular helicopter service is available twice a week through the whole year. There is only one spot where you can get upp on the island from the sea, and it is not without danger.
There are two peaks on Stóra Dímun: Høgoyggj (396 m) and Klettarnir (308 m).
The cach is a 1/2 liter plastic-box, containing logbook, FFC and some small things to exchange. The real treassure is to be on the island! ;-)
