The clapper bridge is the oldest and most basic type of bridge
construction. There are many examples distributed throughout
Dartmoor, perhaps the most celebrated being the one at Postbridge.
Most of the bridges are centuries old, but this cache is hidden
near a newer one, only 200 years old. Often the subject of
paintings and postcards, this bridge is located in Scorhill Down in
north east Dartmoor.
