This site is a large grassy area and is kid safe and dog friendly. It is an off-leash area for the dog(s) to run. The small cache has a log and pencil and small swap.
This is my playground (I work in the control tower!). Gold Coast airport has around 100 jet take offs and landings a day and with a very busy flight training academy it's total movements can reach 600 a day! The prefered take off direction, wind permitting, is to the south (runway 14) so this site is excellent for watching the action. If you have a scanner you will need to tune to 118.7 mhz. to listen to the aircraft airborne and 121.8 mhz. on the ground. We broadcast the weather information on 134.5 mhz. If you go to this link it will show the current jet arrivals and departures.
Air Asia X's Airbus A330-300 landing on runway 14 at the Gold Coast after an eight hour flight from Kuala Lumpur. They fly in 6 days a week.
