******Ammo can went missing a while ago, has been replaced with another suitable container! Thanks woodcutter...!*******
Placed in memory of C-130E tail 70-1271, retired here at AMARG on July 17th, 2009.
1271 is a Vietnam era C-130E. She has served bravely in every U.S. military action from Vietnam (the very end!) to Operation Iraqi Freedom. This aircraft was retired on 17 July by a flight crew from Ramstein Germany.
The cache container is a ammo box, carried onboard the aircraft while flying in combat. It originally contained parts and equipment used to repair the aircraft quickly while in the combat zone. Refered to by aircrew as the HERK or Hostile Environment Repair Kit. Some of the items still in the box are original to the kit, plus an engine torgue gauge. Feel free to use the box to trade trackables and swag, but please leave all of the original equipment for others to enjoy!
If you are curious what any of the parts/tools are in the box, just take a picture and attach it to your log and I can fill you in on any piece's name and use.
"the woodcutter" has graciously offered to maintain the cache! Thanks for the help!
